Rimonabant is an anti-obesity drug specially designed for the treatment of obesity. This medicine is not going to help you burn fat by itself, and you will need to combine it with a low-fat diet and regular exercise. This medicine is very efficient and has very few mild side effects. Rimonabant can help about a third of all patients to lose up to 20 pounds in the first year of taking it regularly, while the remaining patients will also lose weight, but less of it. Of course it will be possible to obtain some progress only if you take rimonabant exactly as prescribed and never miss your doses. 20 mg is most commonly prescribed dose that you will need to take once a day with some water to make sure the medicine does not get stuck in your esophagus. Taking rimonabant may be impossible for you if you have ever been allergic to this medicine or any of the active ingredients your tablet may contain, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding at the moment of asking your health care provider for a prescription, or if you have any of the following health conditions that can make the treatment unsafe and produce heath effects that you'd rather avoid: impaired kidney function, a history of epilepsy or liver problems. An overdose of rimonabant is not supposed to produce life-threatening effects, but you need to be aware of the possibility to get the following symptoms if you happen to take too much of it: headache, insomnia, fatigue, and euphoria. If you have taken too much of rimonabant - either by accident or intentionally - and display any of the symptoms mentioned, make sure you seek emergency medical assistance. Although an overdose of this drug is not expected to produce life-threatening health effects, it's best to get medical help to make sure you are safe. If you happen to have an allergic reaction to rimonabant (symptoms such as hives, rash, trouble breathing or swallowing etc) - seek emergency help too and do not take any more of rimonabant until told so by your health care provider. A tablet of your medicine may contain some other ingredients besides rimonabant, and it's important that you make sure you are not allergic to any of them. The following active ingredients can be found: microcrystalline cellulose, lactose monohydrate, povidone K 30, sodium laurilsulfate, maize starch, croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate, titanium dioxide, and lactose monohydrate.
